BUDAPEST (R16 contains offensive language and sex scenes)
Based on the best selling novel by beloved Brazilian poet, composer and novelist Chico Buarque, BUDAPEST traverses two cities, two languages and two loves as it explores the psyche of a ghost writer Jose Costa. Returning home from an Anonymous Writers’ Conference in Istanbul, Costa is forced to make a landing in Budapest. Bewitched by the city and especially its language (“the only language that the devil respects”) he heads back to his home in Rio already plotting his return. The director, Walter Carvalho, is better known as the talented cinematographer for films such as CENTRAL STATION, CARANDIRU and SUELY IN THE SKY.
