SLAVE TO THE RHYTHM ( Exempt from classification)
From the lazy late night Samba beats of back street Rio, to the pulsating rhythms of the heart of Bahia. This film showcases the brilliance of African Brazilian musical talent today. This documentary touches upon the history of the four million Africans that endured centuries of slavery in Brazil. However, rather than highlighting the horrors of slavery, the tone of this documentary is uplifting. It celebrates Afro Brazilian life and focuses on the extraordinary talent, strength and self respect of these proud people. Featured in the film are great musicians such as Gilberto Gil, Carlos Negreiros, Paulo Mauro, Ramiro Musotto, Moacyr Luz & Virginia Rodrigues.
